Grammy winner and nominee, Laura Heikinheimo is the leading, classical music producer in Finland. Since 2009 she has been the Executive Recording Producer for the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSO) and in addition to producing their CDs she is also responsible for the sound of RSO’s concert broadcasts on radio, TV and streams.
Laura was the house producer for Warner Finlandia from 1996 -1998, after which she founded her own production company. She has collaborated with almost all of Finland’s professional orchestras and conductors, as well as with leading Finnish and foreign soloists. In addition to Finlandia Records, she has produced for Alba Records, Bis, Hyperion, Naxos, Octavia Records (Japan), Ondine, SonyBMG, and Warner Japan.
Since 1993 Laura has produced over 250 CDs and music for film and television. The spread ranges from medieval music to contemporary music, and includes symphonic music and opera as well as solo, chamber and choir albums. Several of these productions have won prestigious international awards, including Grammy, Gramophone, ICMA, Emma, and Record of the Year Award by the Finnish Broadcasting Company.
Laura grew up in a musical family and graduated as a Master of Music from the Sibelius Academy in 1995. She studied piano, cello, voice and choral conducting and did her Master's thesis on Clara Schumann (“Clara Schumann: A Female Musician in the 19th Century Europe”). In the academic year 1995-96, Laura attended the producer training at the Sibelius Academy Center of Education. From 1987 to 1995, she worked as a piano teacher at different Music Institutes.
Between 2005-2015 Laura sat on the Classical Music Expert Board of the Music Promotion Foundation (MES) awarding record production grants.
